Eric R. Ivie
Red Zone Writing is owned and operated by Eric R. Ivie, a lifelong sports fanatic who loves to create and write. I'm a husband and a father, and I reside in central Indiana.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Texas A&M University and worked for nearly 20 years in the criminal justice system.
Writing has always come easily to me, from elementary school through college, and continuing today. After years of blogging and informal writing, I finally followed the advice of numerous friends and family members and began writing sports content occasionally for the Yahoo Contributor Network in January of 2011.
My writing career rapidly blossomed, with a number of my articles getting picked up by Yahoo Sports. In May of 2011, I became a Featured Contributor in Sports for Yahoo Contributor Network until Yahoo discontinued the Featured Contributor program in December of 2012.
In September of 2011, with my writing career skyrocketing, I made a career change, walking away from probation work and focusing full-time on my two main loves: writing and sports.
Less than a month later, I was presented with the prestigious Yahoo Contributor Award for my "compelling football coverage and fascinating commentary" that made me the "Sports contributor with the highest overall quality in [his] recently published content."
A desire to spread my wings and broaden my horizons led me to create Red Zone Writing and time its official launch with a very unique and special date that is ripe for good luck: 11-11-11.
All of my work with Yahoo was published on Yahoo Sports until Yahoo Contributor Network discontinued submissions to Yahoo Sports in February of 2014. I finished my career with Yahoo Contributor Network with over 5 million page views on over 1,000 pieces of content.
While Red Zone Writing was originally created with sports writing in mind, I frequently found myself providing content and services for small businesses and organizations outside of the sports arena -- especially once I started blogging for Visit Hendricks County in 2012. My interest in helping small businesses like my own succeed led me to focus my services on "the little guy."
The company name symbolizes that extra something -- that red zone offense -- that teams need in the last 20 yards to score a touchdown. Red Zone Writing is here to do the same thing for individuals, small businesses and organizations of all kinds, whether they're sports-related or not.
No matter where you are on the field -- or what field you're in -- when you need that extra something, Red Zone Writing will provide you with content and services that score!
Red Zone Writing in the Community
With my experience in the criminal justice system, I have a special interest in helping kids avoid criminal behavior. I am a firm believer in the benefits of community service and sports in accomplishing that goal.
